Easy Duty (International Trade Tool) - Resultz

Resultz provides services and training that help organisations navigate the complexities of international trade across the UK and Europe. As part of that work, their team was consistently inundated with questions: how duty is calculated, what risks are involved in overseas shipments, which documents are required, and what different Incoterms mean in practice.

Resultz wanted to relieve that pressure — and turn their expertise into a scalable digital product. The goal was an intuitive, subscription-based online tool that could calculate import duty and taxes for shipping a specific product to a specific country, while also presenting the wider context needed to trade confidently.

The challenge

Easy Duty needed to become a “one stop shop” for international trade guidance, bringing together calculation, compliance context, and support in one consistent experience:

• Import duty and tax calculations by product and destination country
• Country-specific guidance and related trade information
• Incoterms explanations and implications
• Documentation requirements along the journey
• Risk assessments for overseas transport
• A subscription model (with free trials) to generate recurring revenue
• A simple admin experience so content could be maintained without developer involvement

A key complexity was that each country’s duty rules can be unique, complex, and change over time.

What we delivered

A duty-calculation engine built for real-world complexity

Resultz provided Excel spreadsheets containing duty calculations for each country. Inflecto designed a web-based interface that can build up formulas and calculations in a way that feels familiar to Excel — including calculations that reference one another — while allowing the logic to run reliably and consistently within a modern web platform.

This approach made it possible to model complex, country-specific rules without hard-coding each variation into the application.

A customer-facing website with subscriptions and free trials

We developed a customer-facing web application that allows users to calculate import duty through a clean, simple workflow. The experience is driven by a simplified content management system so Resultz can maintain and evolve country guidance, supporting content, and tool outputs over time.

The platform supports:

• Subscription access (annual)
• A clear, intuitive calculation journey designed for non-specialists

A trade Q&A bot (chat interface)

To further reduce repetitive questions and help users self-serve, Inflecto built a bot and associated backend systems. The bot can answer international trade questions provided in plain text through a chat interface on the website.

The supporting backend enables monitoring and ongoing training of the bot, helping improve answer quality as new questions and topics emerge.
